Hello!

On my way back home from a job site in Wilmington today (Thurs., Jan. 15th),
I stopped at the Melvin Quarry lake on the north side of Rte. 22 in the burg
of Melvin a few miles east of Wilmington. There was still some open water
on which there was numerous waterfowl. The following birds were observed from
about 5 to 5:30 PM:

Snow Goose-36 (11 blue phase), 34 took flight circling higher around the
lake and eventually were descending toward the lake when I left. Beautiful
views in the sun!
Cackling Goose-5 maybe 6 swimming together amongst Canada's
Bufflehead-X
Redhead-X
American Wigeon-X
Ring-Necked Duck-XX
Hooded Merganser-X
Northern Pintail-XX
Ruddy Duck-X
Black Duck-XX
Mallard-XXX
Canada Goose-XXX
Common Grackle-3 in tree next to Melvin Road
Horned Lark-XX feeding in Melvin Road right by my car

The security guy from the quarry stopped by and told me that there were a
lot more waterfowl yesterday (Wed.) than today which is pretty amazing as I
thought there were high numbers today. There is a pull off area on the east
side of Melvin Road once you turn off Rte. 22. I don't know if or how well this
will work but here is a link to the site on Google:
