This PM Lenna Mae and I decided to face the freezing temperature and check out the Melvin Quarry. We found twelve white phased SNOW GEESE resting among the hundreds (thousand?) of Canadas. We did not find the Cackling Geese or the many waterfowl species reported earlier but saw only a few Ring-necked Ducks, Mallards and Black Ducks. These birds obviously come and go and it is easy to miss some with so many Canadas bunched up on the edge of the open water. Melvin should be good while
most other lakes and ponds are frozen over.
Frozen Cheers, Larry Gara
