Dave Dyer and I did some birding this morning, we waited for it to warm a little before going out..still only 9deg. by 10:30am. But glad we did. We found a mixed flock of Horned Lark/Snow Buntings. best est. on this flock..is around 450 birds..and they were spooked a lot by traffic on Eastern Av. So we used % for it, about 20% were Snow Buntings(around 90) rest were Horned larks. And with the scope on them for a few minutes, I also found a least 3-Lapland Longspurs in there..could have more..but it's a job checking all the movement.

This area is within 1/2 mile of the 75 acre quarry lake(for sale) that sits just South of 23,(see Robert Royse post) South of Chillicothe. And it is full , but the open water hole is shrinking by the hour. We did the quick check of it also , it has loads of Black Duck, Mallard, 2-Pintail flying about, 5 Tundra Swans, and 2 Eagles, one Imm. bird eating something frozen in the ice..and 1 adult sitting nearby. The near by farm fields are also full of C. Geese sitting in them. And we found 1-Snow Goose(White Phase) with them.
