Even the Mahoning River is icing up now (first time I've seen that).  There's still plenty of open water in the Lowellville-Struthers section, which held Canada geese, mallards, 3 Am. black ducks, 12 c. goldeneyes, 17 hooded mergansers, 1 ruddy duck, and 1 pied-billed grebe this morning.  E. bluebird and n. mockingbird were also found.  Here at my Poland Twp. yard in Mahoning Co., the last few days:  wild turkeys, red-tailed hawk, sharp-shinned hawk, red-bellied woodpeckers, Carolina wren, 8 Am. tree sparrows, white-throated sparrow, 35 dark-eyed juncos, and Am. goldfinches.  No siskins seen since 14 January.  Later, Craig
