John Habig just called with a report from Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo.
He'd found 2-3 dozen white-winged crossbills, and talked with other
birders who reported ~150 of them at the Cemetery today. John also had
an adult male red crossbill in a big spruce just on the right off the
entry road before reaching the bridge. Woodlawn has been kinda slow to
pick up crossbills this winter, but it seems to be getting hot
recently. At the intersection of I-75 and I-475 north of downtown (by
the Jeep factory), take 475 one exit west (#19), exit, turn right at the
first city street (Jackman), then left at the next light (Central Ave);
the entrance to the cemetery is a couple hundred yards ahead on the left.
Enjoy the heat wave,
Bill Whan
