This morning I went to Blendon Woods Metro Park in Franklin County to join
Bruce Simpson with the park's January 1st Bird Walk. The walk was a success,
but I'll let Bruce post the results. My year began as I was driving to the
park. Heading south on Sunbury Road I spotted a group of shapes in the trees
along the near shore. I pulled into the East Walnut Boat Launch area, focused my
binoculars and logged in the first species for the year. Six Bald Eagles,
four adults and two immature's. This greatly beat what normally shows up first
each year.

Wishing everyone a terrific 2009 of birding.

Charlie Bombaci
