The lake was slow to dead for gull viewing. 72nd st. had a small raft of mixed ducks . Eastlake had a considerable flock of ducks(500+) of Canvasback , Redhead ,Buffs, Goldeneyes,L.scaup, Mergs. Still is alot of open water off 72nd and that's where the gulls were.
I stopped at Crown Hill cemetery off rt.91 in Twinsburg. I finally lucked into a flock of 12 White winged Crossbills feeding in the Norway Spruces (long cones). There definitely is a distinctive beat up look to these cones after being fed on and a good way to tell if crossbills had been through. I was near the #20 corner and directly east of it was a stand of large spruces. Vocalizations were minimal at best.
Take care, Greg C.
