I was surveying some property along Lake Erie in Perry Township, Lake County
today (1/27). I had an interesting sighting, a calling NORTHERN SAW-WHET
OWL. The bird was calling consistently and it was 10:30 am. It seems way
to early for breeding, so I'm not sure what it was doing. I also had a
NORTHERN SHRIKE in the same area. Also of note were two adult bald eagles
that were going through courtship. Unfortunately the area is on private
property.
