OK, this time surely it will work.  The computer gods can't hate me that much.

Subject: Bald Eagle in Stark County

I just got a call from the Hueston-Brumbaugh Nature Center south of Alliance to inform me that they had gotten a call from a lady who lives in Mapleton, east of East Canton.  She had observed & taken pictures of  an adult Bald Eagle on her street.  It was there for about a 1/2 hour.  The closest large body of water is Lake Mohawk, to the south.  The 2nd closest is Walborn Reservoir to the north, where a pair of eagles have nested for the last 3 or 4 years.  But it is about 20 miles, at least, away.   Zepperneck Lake is only a few miles further, to the east of where the eagle was seen.  I am mentioning all this in speculation of the reason for the eagle to be at this location.  The most logical assumption probably is that the eagel was just passing through since I believe they are very much on the move right now, looking for new territories, and/or mates.  It could also very well be 1 of the pair from Walborn, though why it would be
foraging in that area is worth pondering.  But another tempting possibility is that it is looking for a new nesting territory in the Lake Mohawk or Zepperneck areas.  All this dialoge is to encourage everyone who lives or travels in the southeastern Stark Co., northern Carroll Co. or southwestern Columbiana Co. to keep their eyes peeled for Bald Eagles & possible nesting behavior.  They are starting to turn up just about anywhere!
