Tammie and I went to Spring Grove Cemetery today and between noon and 1:00pm
we along with many others had very good looks at many White-winged
Crossbills. They were in area 52. At one point we had a flock fly over of
35+ birds. We also got good view of the Crossbills feeding in the tops of
spruce and hemlocks on cones. At times we could watch the birds remove the
cones and hold them against a branch of a tree and work to access the seeds.
Earlier in the day we saw two Common Redpolls in the same area.
