fellow birders,

Just made all the final arrangements for myself and fellow insane
birders Linda and Vicki to travel to Minnesota in the middle of February for
the Sax-Zim Bog Winter Bird Festival. I'm sure there are others in this
group who are also planning to attend. I thought we might arrange for some
group counseling, as it is not too late for us to change our minds. If,
however, you decide to go through with this trip, let us know. Perhaps
there will be an opportunity to car pool from Duluth, share hand
warmers, or just give moral support when it reaches 20 below, as it was a
few days ago. Drop me an email if you're willing to admit that you are
actually going.

On a local note, my January list stands at only 62 species. I post
this to encourage those who might be intimidated by someone getting 100 in
just 4 days, which is quite an impressive accomplishment. (38 of my 62
species were sighted in the "yard".) So, put some more low numbers out
there, to encourage everyone else.

Joe in the woods,
Somerset. Perry County
