When I first went to the boardwalk, it was only misting. Then, halfway down
the boardwalk, it let loose.

In the pouring rain I was only able to see a few birds hiding under a large
Black Willow tree.

The birds were as follows:

1. Downy Woodpecker - 1 hiding under a large willow branch.
2. Brown Creeper - 1 also hiding on one of the only dry spots on the
willow.
3. N. Cardinal - 2 males on the boardwalk trying to keep dry.
4. American Tree Sparrow - 3 with the cardinals and creeper, but lower
at the base.
5. Possible Winter Wren, but I didn't get a good look.

The walking trails by the Sportsman's Migratory Bird Center were getting
flooded, but I did manage a few species.

1. American Robin - 12 eating Washington Hawthorne berries.
2. Northern Cardinal - one pair also eating the berries.
3. American Tree Sparrow - half a dozen near the observation tower.
4. American Goldfinch - one pair near the tower.

The causeway produced very little in the pouring rain and fog.

1. Canada Goose - 22
2. Ring-billed Gull - 5

The Fox Sparrow is still here at the Black Swamp Bird Observatory feeder
area.

We also had several White-throated Sparrows and American Tree Sparrows
today.
