A dark phase Rough-legged hawk was directly above the Kidron Mennonite Church on Sunday, Feb. 1, at 5:30pm.

Another special bird was found on Thursday, Jan. 29.  Andrew Miller located a Long-eared owl  being mobbed by jays at the Evergreen Park in Kidron.   At least six of us were able to locate it that day but don't know if it's been seen again.   Many of us look there every year and have wondered when a long-eared or saw-whet would finally show up there.   In addition, Melvin Weaver reported over 20 White-winged cossbills and several  Red-breasted nuthatches at the same location.  Might be worth someone's time to check out these woods thoroughly, not sure it's worth the neck injury you'll get doing it though... those trees are tall.
