Hoping for more migrating waterfowl, I headed up to this 'twin' of Hoover Reservoir in southern Delaware County. The lake was about half-coverd in ice, with most of the open areas south of the Cheshire Bridge. Surprisingly, waterfowl were very scarce, with only a handful of species, in numbers far below those seen at Hoover the prior day. It was doubly odd, because gull numbers were good, so perhaps the ducks will show up over the next week. Notables included:

Canada Geese - perhaps 150 on the morning, many in ponds around the reservoir
Mallards - 40+
Black Duck - 2
Red-br. Merganser - 2
Hooded Merganser - 7
Gulls - 500+ Ring-bills, scattered in small flocks resting on the shelf ice. Looking through them found only 7 Herring and nothing else.
Bald Eagle - 1 adult flying north along the east shoreline off SummerRidge access
Pileated Woodpecker - a pair working through the woods north of the Visitor's Center
Mockingbirds - singles were calling in the scrub southeast of the dam and east of the Visitor's Center
Blackbirds - 0 for both Redwings and Rusties, although I had seen Redwings at several ponds before reaching the Lake.
