While out on a walk through my neighborhood this morning, I heard, and then
saw, what I believe was a savannah sparrow. It was singing from the top of
an evergreen tree a couple blocks from my house. I noted the shorter (than a
song sparrow) and notched tail, bright yellow lores with the yellow
extending back over the eyes, and fine well-defined striping on the sides. I
also compared the song to the Stokes recording on my iPod, and to my ear it
was a perfect match. Unfortunately I didn't get a photo (sometimes I'm
pretty stupid).
