There were large numbers (over 1000) of blackbirds at Calamas Swamp in
Pickaway county today. They were mostly Red-winged Blackbirds both male and
female. Also some Common Grackles and Starlings mixed in. The flocks were in
almost constant motion between perching in the trees in the swamp and flying
over the farm field to the west. I observed at least four Rusty Blackbirds
and there were potentially many more but the constant movement made ID's
difficult.
