     At about 4PM, at Salem Reservoir, there was an amazing variety of waterfowl present. There is a good sized piece of open water. Here is the list of the 14 species seen:

 

     Canada Goose     50+

     Mute Swan     4

     Mallard     30+

     American Black Duck     50+

     American Widgeon     2 pair

     Northern Pintail     28 males, 20 females

     Canvasback     20 pair

     Redhead     12 pair

     Ring-necked Duck     2 pair

     Lesser Scaup     3 pair

     Common Goldeneye     1 pair

     Bufflehead     1 pair

     Hooded Merganser     2 males, 1 female

     American Coot     2

 

Of note: on our ride we recorded 46 species. Salem Reservoir is located six miles south of Salem and four miles northwest of Lisbon on Gamble Road.
