My friend Gerry Brevoort and I went to the McKinely Ave quarries last pm, 
and when we arrived we found 100-150 red winged black birds in the trees on 
Shrum Mound. Not too exciting. But by 6:00 Bob Royse had joined us, along 
with 10-15 thousand black birds. The electric poles and wires at Trabue 
Road intersection were dripping with birds and all the trees were filled to 
the brim with birds. Rusties, Cowbirds, Grackles, Starlings. And then a 
Coopers arrived, and they all took flight. Just an awesome experience. But 
it was odd that no droppings were found under the trees at the Mound. After 
the Coopers, the birds roosted on the west side of the quarry.

There are also 15 or so GBH's on nest on the island in the quarry.
