Today I looked around in eastern Mahoning Co.  Lakes and ponds are still mostly frozen, but there's enough open water to attract a good variety of waterfowl.  Evans L. had ring-necked ducks, lesser scaup, buffleheads, c. goldeneyes, 33 hooded mergansers, red-breasted merganser, ring-billed gulls, and herring gulls.  Pine L. held 500 Canada geese, mallards, 15 Am. black ducks, Am. wigeon, 20 n. pintails, hooded mergansers, Carolina wren, and e. bluebirds.  In Beaver Twp. I saw gadwalls, Am. wigeon, 23 n. pintails, canvasbacks, 40 redheads, 35 ring-necked ducks, lesser scaup, buffleheads, hooded mergansers, 5 ruddy ducks, and Am. coots.  Near home here in Poland Twp. were Am. robins, n. mockingbird, and a flock of ~75 red-winged blackbirds (all males).  Later, Craig
