White Winged Crossbills are still present in Wyandot Co. today, more cone liter than actual sightings.

6 female crossbills were found in hemlocks on 7th street in Upper Sandusky early this morning during a challenging birding adventure. 17 below zero makes for a quick observation and then back to a heated car!

Hemlock cones under the trees in and around Upper Sandusky increased during the day as I rechecked the areas in the afternoon.

Hopefully we can enjoy crossbills this weekend in balmy 40 degree temps.

Rick Counts
Wyandot Co.
