The south winds have pushed the ice somewhat offshore, but the birds are staying in the warm water near the power plant. Huge raft of ducks - 1000 Canvasback, 1000 scaup (mostly lesser), 100 Redhead, plus Mallard, American Black Duck, Common Goldeneye, Bufflehead, and Piintail. Lots of ring-bills and herrings, maybe 100 Greater Black-backed Gulls, and one Glaucous Gull.
Lorain harbor and the Black River mouth are still ice covered.
