We agree with Dan Sanders that the raptor numbers are down, not only this
year but from our previous trip 3 weeks ago. We did not observe the Golden
Eagle. Also we did not observe any Short-eared Owls. Before sunset we were at
Prouty and Coal Haul Rds. Nothing there, so we went up International and most of
the way up Zion Ridge Rds. and back with not one bird observed. We retraced
this trip before sunrise with the same results. Nothing. Vole populations
down?
We did observe the Northern Shrike on Zion Ridge Rd. about a 1/2 mile from
Rt.146 in the locust trees.
Observations:
Turkey Vulture 2
Black Duck 1
Northern Pintail 1
Northern Harrier 2
Rough-legged Hawk
Red-tailed Hawk
Sharp-shinned Hawk
American Kestel
Brown Creeper 2
Horned Lark 10

Golden-crowned Kinglet 1
Yellow-rumped Warbler 20+
Song Sparrow 3
Lori Brumbaugh
Lou Gardella
