Add Highland Park Cemetery, off Northfield and Chagrin Blvd.
to the spots sustaining the white-winged crossbills this winter.

I've been checking the Douglas firs right at the Northfield gates
regularly since I saw the crossbills feeding on them in Lakeview
Cemetery last week. Today, I walked right up to a male and female
in the lower branches of the trees, and then found a flock of maybe
fourteen birds across the way.

Checked the South Chagrin Reservation Arboretum too, but still
haven't seen crossbills there. Not as many tempting evergreens.
But, in the Pitch Pines there were two red breasted nuthatches and
feeding on the sweet gum seeds next to them, 10 pine siskins with one
goldfinch.
