Monday was a beautiful day at The Wilds.  Raptors were thermaling  (heh, heh,
heh), and waterfowl were floating.  All the ponds were frozen  except for the
one to the east of the Visitor Center.  Species  observed were:

Rough-legged hawks - 5 (2 dark morphs)
Red-tailed hawks - 7
Northern harriers - 5 (2m, 2f, 1 imm.)
American kestrels - 3m
Bald eagles - 2
Eagle - NOID
Trumpeter swans - 2
Ring-necked ducks- 40
Black ducks- 2m
Green-winged teal - 1m
Redhead ducks - 3m
Mallards - many
Eastern bluebirds - 15 (10m, 5f)
Robin
Horned larks
Am. crows
Canada geese
Bluejays
European starlings
Mourning doves
White-breasted nuthatches
Northern cardinal
Tree sparrows
Downy woodpecker

And, of course, the find of the day--1 lonely CREAGLE heading north !
