This week's highlights include the waterfowl migration and the first
yellowlegs of the year. The number reports for White-winged Crossbills
has greatly diminished.

Greater White-fronted Geese: Dave Collopy reported that three were in
the area of Spring Valley WA on the 7th. Rick Asamoto reported 42 were
at the Mercer WA on the 7th. Su Snyder reported that ten were at Shreve
Fish Pond (private) in Wayne County on the 10th. Jay and Jack Stenger
reported that three were at Fernald on the 10th. Su Snyder reported 14
were at Shreve Fish Pond on the 12th.

Snow Goose: Suzanne Wagner reported that one blue phase was at Funk
Bottoms WA on the 7th. The Dunakin's reported seeing three groups in the
Paulding area on the 8th. Jay Stenger reported that two were at the
Highland Stone/Roush Rd Gravel Pit on the 8th. Kirk Westendorf observed
four flying over Armleder Park on the 11th.

Brant: Accidental in Spring one was seen by John Pogacnik on the 8th
during his Lakeshore Waterbird Survey.

Cackling Goose: Suzanne Wagner reported that two were at Funk Bottoms WA
on the 7th. John Pogacnik reported two during his Lakeshore Waterbird
Survey on the 7th.

Eurasian Wigeon: Helen Ostermiller reported that one was at Killbuck
Marsh WA on the 6th. It was in the pond north of Clark Rd and east of
Valley Rd. The Killbuck bird was observed by many observers on the 7th
and 8th. Charlie Bombaci found one at Area A of Delaware WA on the 6th.
Bob Lacker reported one was at Cowan Lake on the 7th. The Cowan bird was
seen by many observers on the 7th and 8th.

Blue-winged Teal: Su Snyder reported that some were at a drake was
present at Prairie Lane and Funk Bottoms WA on the 6th. Charlie Bombaci
reported some were present at Big Island WA on the 7th. Rick Asamoto
found one at Cowan Lake on the 8th. Bob Royse reported that they were
present at Deer Creek WA on the 10th.

Surf Scoter: Rick Asamoto reported that one viewed from the Fisherman's
Wharf at Rock Fork SP on the 6th.

White-winged Scoter: Alan Claybon reported that two were at Cowan Lake
on the 6th. Spencer Ryan observed a pair at Avon Lake power plant on the
6th. Su Snyder reported that a drake was present at Pleasant Hill Lake
on the 6th. On the 10th Su found a pair at Pleasant Hill Lake. Bob
Lacker reported that two males and two females were off of Harveysburg
Rd at Caesar Creek SP on the 7th. Three were seen there on the 9th. Rick
Asamoto reported that one female was at Van Wert Reservoir on the 7th.
John Pogacnik reported two during his Lakeshore Waterbird Survey on the
7th. Lukas Padegimas reported that two were at Avon Lake power plant on
the 7th. John Pogacnik reported that two were seen at his Lakeshore
Waterbird Survey on the 8th.

Long-tailed Duck: Alan Claybon reported that two were at Cowan Lake on
the 6th. On the 8th a third one showed up comprising one male and two
females at Cowan Lake. The birds were still present as of the 9th. Gabe
Leidy reported that two were at Lake Medina on the 10th. The birds were
still present on the 12th. Su Snyder reported that three males were at
Pleasant Hill Lake on the 10th. Gary Cowell reported that two were still
present at Pleasant Hill Lake on the 11th. Su Snyder reported three were
at Pleasant Hill Lake on the 12th.

Ruffed Grouse: Dan Kendrick flushed one at the Davis Memorial in Adams
County on the 8th.

Red-necked Grebe: Greg Bennett reported that two were at Nimisila
Reservoir and that one was at Summit Lake on the 7th. Greg reported that
all three birds were still present on the 8th in their respective
locations. The Summit Lake bird was still present as of the 11th. Lukas
Padegimas reported that two were at Eastlake power plant on the 7th.
Gary Cowell reported that one was present at Pleasant Hill Lake on the
11th. Craig Holt reported that some were at Lake Milton on the 11th.

Eared Grebe: One was at Summit Lake on the 10th.

Common Loon: Shane Egleston found one at Rocky Fork Lake on the 8th. The
Dunakin's reported that one was at the Paulding Reservoir on the 8th.

American White Pelican: Jill Bowers reports the pelicans are still
present at Grand Lake-St. Marys.

Osprey: Two, slightly early, birds were observed at Lake Logan on the
11th by Nathan West.

Merlin: Lukas Padegimas reported that one was at Sims Park on the 7th.

Sandhill Crane: Dave Collopy reported that one was at Spring Valley WA
on the 6th. Suzanne Wagner reported that two were at Funk Bottoms WA on
the 7th. James Cole reported that that he saw a flock of seven flying
over Rte 24 near the Fallen Timbers area on the 7th and that one flew
over Secor MP on the 8th. Jay Stenger reported that six were in a field
along Rte 50 west of Hillsboro on the 8th. Jay Stenger reported that two
were at the Highland Stone/Roush Rd Gravel Pit on the 8th.

Greater Yellowlegs: Su Snyder reported that one was at Shreve Fish Pond
on the 12th.

Lesser Yellowlegs: One was present at Funk Bottoms WA on the 8th. Su
Snyder reported that one was at Shreve Fish Pond on the 12th.

Black-legged Kittiwake: Andy Sewell saw the bird again near the dam at
Hoover Reservoir on the 6th.

EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVE: One was reported on the 8th to be along Rte 6
just west of Rte 590 in Sandusky County.

Long-eared Owl: One was found at Maumee Bay SP. Lukas Padegimas reported
that two were at Caley Reservation on the 7th. Four were at Walborn
Reservoir on the 9th.

Northern Saw-whet Owl: Terri Martincic reported hearing one at Hinckley
Reservation south of the Coasting Hill on the 7th.

Yellow-bellied Sapsucker: Rob Thorn reported that one was still around
the Pit at Greenlawn Cemetery on the 8th.

Northern Shrike: At least one remained along the causeway at MaGee
Marsh. Chris Knoll reported that one was along the John F. Gallagher
Memorial Trail behind the BSBO center on the 7th. Bob Royse reported
that one is still near the beach parking lot at Deer Creek SP as of the
10th.

Brown Thrasher: Scott Hites reported one was at Nature Trails Park in
Northwood on the 8th.

Chipping Sparrow: Bruce Miller reported that some were at Highbanks MP
on the 8th.

Savannah Sparrow: Bob Royse Bob Royse found some in the Deer Creek SP
wetlands on the 10th.

Dickcissel: Bruce Simpson reports that the Blendon Woods MP bird is
still visiting the feeders as of the 6th.

White-winged Crossbill: Paul Cary reported that about 20 were on the
north quad of Baldwin-Wallace College near Bagley and Front Sts in Berea
on the 7th. Matt Valencic reported that 12 were at Squire Valle View
Farm on the 7th. Denise Kissel reported that at least 25 were at
Sagamore Hills near Hemlock Ln and Pinewood View on the 9th. Four were
seen along the horse trial off of Monclova Rd in Oak Openings on the
9th. One was near a south Toledo golf course on the 10th.

Common Redpoll: Lisa Brohl reported that about 30 were still visiting
Elizabeth Heineman's feeder on South Bass Island on the 7th. Matt
Anderson reported that 12 were at his feeder in Whitehouse as of the
8th. Another birder from that area reported that one was at his feeder
on the same day. Approximately 80 have been seen in Uniontown.
