Darin Miller from the Fremont area spent some time on the boardwalk today as
we both saw some nice birds there. I missed the sapsucker, but Darin got a
picture of it. Here is a partial list of what we saw on the boardwalk today.

1. Great Blue Heron - on the boardwalk; great photo Darin!
2. Yellow-bellied Sapsucker - 1 male
3. Downy Woodpecker - several
4. Northern Flicker - 1
5. Eastern Phoebe - by the observation tower
6. Tree Swallow - many flying over head
7. White-breasted Nuthatch - 2
8. Brown Creeper - several
9. Winter Wren - many now!
10. Golden-crowned Kinglet - many
11. American Robin - several
12. Eastern Towhee - at least 6 males!
13. A. Tree Sparrow - many
14. Song Sparrow - at least 1
15. Fox Sparrow - several; one singing
16. N. Cardinal - a few singing
17. Rusty Blackbird - many
18. C. Grackle - many
19. A. Goldfinch - 1

Benton Carroll Road shorebirds today from 12:40 to 1:16 pm.

1. Killdeer - 6
2. Greater Yellowlegs - 20
3. Lesser Yellowlegs - 2
4. Pectoral Sandpiper - 71
5. Wilson's Snipe - 42

1. A. Tree Sparrow - many
2. Chipping Sparrow - 1
3. Fox Sparrow - at least 1
4. White-throated Sparrow - a few
5. White-crowned Sparrow - 1
