An American Woodcock was resting in the northeast quadrant of Public Square in downtown Cleveland today. The grounds of the Square are barren as even the daffodils are just beginning to sprout. The bird was easily seen without cover - it did not even try to conceal itself under the small arborvitae shrubs that dot the landscaping.

I first found the bird on a walk across the Square to meet a fellow birder for lunch. She and I returned after lunch to find the bird still hanging out. As I left the office around 6:30pm, the Woodcock had moved from the eastern side of that quad to the northern side but remained easy to see.

Good birding.
