Add a pie-billed grebe today to the duck soup at E.  72nd st. boat ramp area.  Around mid-day about a hundred rb mergansers in two flocks flew out the channel and east along the lake shore.  Still fair numbers of red heads and scaup and a handful of hooded mergansers.  Most of the birds late in the day were concentrated along Dike 14, unlike yesterday and the day before when the winds were brisker and they were on the lee side of the breakwall by the yacht club.  Some photos here:
