My wife and I spent about 2 hours at Lake Medina today - from about 3:30 until 5:30 PM.

The female Long-tailed was visible just about the whole time we were there. We did not find the male, nor did anyone else while we were there. The female was paired up, but not with the same species. She spent much of the time paired up with a Horned Grebe. Without really good optics it was difficult to determine that the other bird was a grebe.

There was a great variety, here is what we saw:
American Widgeon
Canvasback
Ring Necked Ducks
Lesser Scaup
American Coot
Bufflehead
Ruddy Ducks
Hooded Mergansers
Red Breasted Mergansers
Horned Grebe
Mallard
Canada Goose
Ringed-billed Gulls

The birds that came closest to the western shore were the Lesser Scaup, Horned Grebe, and Red breasted Mergansers.

I have posted a few photos - with a disclaimer
Disclaimer:
While it was a great day for birding - it was a really bad day for photographs. Everything was on the other side of the lake, and the overcast skies make the water look gray. So, the photos are not the best quality.

Long-tailed and Horned Grebe pair (worst quality - but you can tell the species)
