A first-yr Iceland Gull was obvious among the gulls at Oberlin Reservoir (Lorain Co), this morning. Appx. ten minutes after my arrival, EVERY gull on the reservoir picked up in a massive, swirling flock and left - some heading to the landfill, others headed further west. Morning light is very tricky here, especially when trying to pick out white-wings. Further south on West Rd, at its intersection with Hughes Rd, 25 Rusty Blackbirds were present.

Another morning highlight were SIXTY Northern Shovelers present at the slough on SR 18, just east of the town of Wellington - across from the Hillcrest Motel. I believe this is the largest concentration of shovelers that I have observed in NE Ohio. Eight Blue-winged Teal were here, as well.

The Red-necked Grebe at Wellington Reservoir, originally discovered by Dane Adams, has been present for a couple weeks now.

Good birding -
Gabe Leidy
