Greetings All,

Some of you may have heard of a developing social networking website for birders. It is called BirdFellow.com. In the coming months we look forward to launching a full-featured site that will offer a variety of features and content that North American birders of all experience levels will find useful and interesting.

Currently, the site is offering an online journal that presents regular postings about a variety of birding topics. Since our launch in late December, we've posted a number of trips reports including a series about a recent trip that Steve Mlodinow and I made to Baja California Sur, Mexico. This region is very interesting ornithologically, yet it has received little focus historically. In addition to the trip report, we also posted a three-part series on some of the unique taxa that are resident in the Cape District of Baja. Many of these species and subspecies occur no where else.

In recent days, we've added two ID challenges that allow you to test your skills in sorting through mixed flocks of similar species. These have been quite popular with our modest, yet loyal following. Once folks discover the site, they are returning over and over again, many on a daily basis.

I would invite you to check out BirdFellow.com, search the online journal archives, and tell us what you think using the "comments" link below the title of each post. If you like what you find, please pass the word to those who might not be subscribers to this list.

Cheers,

Dave Irons
