Our sightings for Saturday, March 21 at Killdeer Plains

  Bald Eagles - 5 (at lake 6 and one at the Area Headquarters)
  Red Tailed Hawks - double digits
  Rough-Legged Hawks (light morph - 2 and dark morph  - 1)
  Northern Harriers - 6 (all females)

  Wood Ducks
  Am. Black Ducks
  Hooded Mergansers
  Redheads
  Northern Shoveler
  Ring-necked
  Scaups
  Buffleheads
  Pintails (on a pond north of CH71 from pond 6)
  Pied Bill Grebes
  Green Winged Teals
  Gadwalls
  Ruddy Ducks
  Am. Coots

  And our three favorites of the day:
  Eurasian Widgeon on Pond 3
  150+ Red Breasted Merganser's on the Upground Reservoir
  and a single Eared Grebe (male) in front of the island on pond  27.  To see

  All waterfowl, except the Eared Grebe were seen with their  counterparts -
both male and female.
  It was a very enjoyable day!

  Around 4:00 (as the day warmed up) the mosquitoes began to make a
formidable appearance.
