At my feeders here today in Avon Lake, 6 Pine Siskins visited this morning and 3 Song Sparrows were foraging all day in the leaf litter and black oil seed on the ground. I've not seen the Song Sparrows in my yard before today. The streaking on the underside of the Song Sparrows was quite striking at a close distance of about 5-7 feet. The dark black streaks on the outside of their throat combined with the black dot on center of their chest looks like a "face" looking back at you when the bird looks at you straight on. I had a lot of fun watching them.
