There hasn't been much going on around here lately, but honestly I haven't been to any of the good spots yet. Grackles, Brown Headed Cowbirds and Red Winged Blackbirds have been increasing. Phoebes are becoming very frequent but no sign of any Neotropical migrants yet Maybe this week, with southerly winds, will bring some new birds.
The next sightings I have to report are from last weekend. After hearing of a pair of Osprey (or possible Bald Eagles) at Lake Logan in Hocking County, I stopped by to see what was around. On the way to Lake Logan, I saw a very large Bald Eagle (I assumed a female at the time) on the west side of US33 between Haydenville and Logan. I did a quick check of the lake and here is what I saw.

A pretty meager list of birds, I know, but I was definitely interested in what I saw on the way home. In the same area that I saw the very large bird earlier in the day, I saw a much smaller adult Bald Eagle. While there has been speculation about Breeding Eagles in the area for several years now, this is the first evidence that I have seen to support the case.
