This morning I had the most Wilson's Snipe that I have ever seen in one day.
The total was 24 birds and I didn't even look very hard! If anyone needs
close-up photos of these birds go to Benton Carroll Road ASAP. If you're
coming from Toledo, it's the first right turn after the entrance to Magee
Marsh (about a 1/2 mile). The first dike on the right has 11 birds near the
end. After you pass the old barn, the next flooded area has at least 14
birds real close to the road! I would say about 30 feet away. Also look for
Wood Duck as I usually see a pair in the back area near the wooded lot. Here
are the ducks that were there this morning!

1. Gadwall
2. A. Wigeon
3. A. Black Duck
4. Mallard
5. Blue-winged Teal - 1 pair
6. N. Shoveler
7. N. Pintail - still 6 pairs; some real close!
8. Green-winged Teal
9. Ring-necked Duck

10. Great Egret - 1 further down the road on the river.

The ducks are best here in the morning around 8:00 to 10:00 am. Then they
leave for other places.

PS. The Northern Shrike is still in the same area at Magee Marsh as of March
26, 2009.
Plus I was over at the Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge yesterday and
they have ducks
      everywhere.
