Sorry about the late report. I thought that I should report this for
those still wanting to look for Long-eared Owl this weekend. After
finding two Sandhill Cranes at Funk Bottoms WA with the help of a local
birder Scott, I headed to Calley Reservation in Lorain County. I was at
Funk Bottoms between about 1:00 and 2:30 pm. I arrived at Calley at
about 3:50 pm and found one Long-eared Owl in the pines to the left of
the parking lot, before leaving at 4:30 pm. The Long-eared Owl was high
up in a pine tree, and there was white-wash and pellets under the tree.
I do not want to be more specific about the exact location for well
known reasons. Good luck for all searchers this weekend. Directions to
Calley can be easily found on the internet using a google search.
