After two weeks on the road with brief stops at home, I enjoyed a run with my wife and dogs through the North Chagrin Reservation. Ok, I know Rosche and company (see Birds of the Cleveland Region) make it scarcely worth mentioning (the species is, after all, ranked "common to abundant" in the third segment of the month of March, and these birds are-according to this authoritative publication-recorded in "all months") but I don't care. I saw my first Eastern Phoebe of the year (on the pond at the road in front of Squire's Castle, which by the way has more turtles than red-winged blackbirds evident, which is due to low grass growth I suspect) and am just thrilled. Wishing you good sightings in our lovely region,
Scott
ps: one can pick up "Birds of the Cleveland Region" at many wild birds unlimited or at the Kirtland Bird Club meetings; see www.kirtlandbirdclub.org
