Hello all,

I've never met anyone whose favorite weather is 38 degrees and rainy, but
those were the conditions that we enjoyed for much of our walk yesterday
on the Inman Trail in the north section of Glen Helen. If it hadn't still
been sunny when we started out, I doubt that many members of the group
would have bothered to come along. Fortunately, for those of us who did
endure, we found a nice, respective slice of winter residents, summer
residents, and a few modest surprises.

Here is our list. (Asterisks note first Glen Helen sighting of the year.)

Great blue heron (1)
Canada goose (8)
Mallard (2)
Turkey vulture (3)
Mourning dove (4)
Belted kingfisher (1)
Downy woodpecker (5)
Hairy woodpecker (2)
Red-bellied woodpecker (4)
American crow (3)
Blue jay (2)
Carolina chickadee (10)
* Brown creeper (1)
Tufted titmouse (6)
White-breasted nuthatch (6)
Carolina wren (1)
* Ruby-crowned kinglet (1)
American robin (4)
* Northern mockingbird (1)
Eurasian starling (1)
* Yellow-rumped warbler (1)
* Louisiana waterthrush (1)
Northern cardinal (8)
White-throated sparrow (4)
Dark-eyed junco (10)
* Chipping sparrow (1)
* Brown-headed cowbird (2)
American goldfinch (8)
