This week's highlights include a massive gull movement at inland
reservoirs and the continuing White-winged Crossbills invasion.

Greater White-fronted Geese: Frank Frick reported that five were at the
main pond of the Miami Whitewater wetland on the 28th. Five were at
Delaware SP on the 28th. Gabe Leidy reported that one was at Oberlin
Reservoir on the 2nd. Su Snyder reported that three were at Funk Bottoms
WA on the 5th.

Ross's Goose: Troy Shively found one at the beach of Delaware SP on the
28th. Rick Asamoto reported that one was at the far east end of Cowan
Lake on the 1st.

White-winged Scoter: Suzanne Wagner reported that one was at Eastlake on
the 5th.

Black Scoter: Bob Powell reported that one was at Cowan Lake SP on the
5th.

Long-tailed Duck: Tom Bartlett found one during his Kelley's Island
Monthly Census on the 26th. Beth Mitchell reported that two were at
Cowan Lake SP on the 5th. Larry Gara said the best place to look for
them is from the South Shore Marina.

Red-necked Grebe: Doug Vogus reported that two were at Ottawa NWR on the
1st. Greg Bennett reported that one was at Summit Lake on the 4th. This
bird was seen again on the 5th by multiple observers. Jeanne Hrenko
located one at Eastlake on the 4th and it was seen again on the 5th by
Suzanne Wagner.

Eared Grebe: One was seen at Summit Lake on the 4th.

Black-crowned Night-Heron: Approximately 13 were at the heron roost
along the Olentangy River across from Drake Union at OSU on the 28th.
Suzanne Wagner reported that two were at Eastlake on the 5th.

Golden Eagle: An adult was seen at Killdeer Plains WA just north of the
intersection of C77 and T123 on the 28th.

Merlin: Lisa Rainsong reported that a female was at Highland Park
Cemetery near Shaker Heights on the 28th. Lisa also reported that two
were at Calvary Cemetery on the 2nd. Lisa found one at Lake View
Cemetery on the 3rd. Troy Shively reported one was in Logan County this
week. Lou Gardella reported that three were at Calvary Cemetery on the
4th. Bill Zimmerman reported that a female was at Old St. Josephs
Cemetery on the 5th. Bob Royse reported that one was at the marina of
Deer Creek SP on the 5th.

Sandhill Crane: Rick Asamoto reported four were at the intersection of
Roxanna-New Burlington and Wilson Rds on the 28th. Chris Clingman found
four at Rte 276 and Hawley Rd between Owensville and Williamsburg in
Clermont County on the 2nd. Michael Gerringer reported that two flew
over the lake at Eastlake MP in Montgomery County on the 5th. Su Snyder
reported that two were at Funk Bottoms WA on the 5th. The Bobolink
Hotline reported that two were south of Dundee.

Black-legged Kittiwake: Dale Brubeck reported that an adult was at
Hoover Reservoir on the 28th. The bird was seen by many observers. Dave
Slager saw the bird again on the 1st.

Little Gull: Sally Isacco reported that one was at E. 72nd St on the
5th.

Thayer's Gull: Gabe Leidy reported that one first-cycle and a
second-cycle were at Oberlin Reservoir on the 28th. Jim McCormac
reported that the first-cycle bird was still present at Oberlin
Reservoir on the 1st.

Iceland Gull: Gabe Leidy reported that four first-cycle and seven adults
were at Oberlin Reservoir on the 28th. Jim McCormac reported that one or
two first-cycles, one second-cycle and two or three adults were at
Oberlin Reservoir on the 1st. John Pogacnik observed two first-cycles
and one adult during his Lakeshore Waterbird Survey on the 1st. Ken
Davis reported that one was at Hoover Reservoir on the 3rd.

Lesser Black-backed Gull: Gabe Leidy reported that one first-cycle and
eight adults were at Oberlin Reservoir on the 28th. Dave Slager reported
that an adult was at Hoover Reservoir on the 1st. Jim McCormac reported
that one first-cycle, one second-cycle, and two adults were at Oberlin
Reservoir on the 1st. Ken Davis reported that one was at Hoover
Reservoir near Walnut St on the 3rd. Tom Bain reported that one was near
the Africa Rd Boat Ramp at Alum Creek on the 3rd. Bob Royse reported
that a second-cycle and one adult were at Deer Creek SP on the 5th.

Glaucous Gull: The Clark County Audubon trip to Buck Creek SP turned up
a first-cycle on the 28th. Gabe Leidy reported that seven first- and
second-cycle and four adults were at Oberlin Reservoir on the 28th.
Julie Davis reported that one, probably a second-cycle, bird was at
Hoover Reservoir on the 1st. Jim McCormac reported that two or three
second-cycles and a few adults were at Oberlin Reservoir on the 1st.
Craig Holt reported one was at Berlin Reservoir on the 3rd. Bob Royse
reported that one first-cycle was at Deer Creek SP on the 5th. Ethan
Kistler reported that one was Lake Milton on the 5th.

Greater Black-backed Gull: Dave Slager reported that one first-cycle
bird was at Hoover Reservoir on the 1st. Jim McCormac reported that
there were two or three first-cycles, one second-cycle, and eight or
nine adults at Oberlin Reservoir on the 1st. Craig Holt reported one was
seen from the Rte 224 causeway at Berlin Reservoir on the 3rd. Ethan
Kistler reported that five were at Lake Milton off of Robinson's Point
on the 5th. Bob Royse reported that a third-cycle was at Deer Creek SP
on the 5th. Ethan Kistler reported that one first-cycle was at Lake
Milton on the 5th.

EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVE: One has returned to TR 237 south of Baltic and
west of Rte 93 (DeLorme 61A5). Look on the wires for the dove.

Snowy Owl: Greg Cudworth reported that two were still at Burke Airport
on the 1st.

Long-eared Owl: Regina Schieltz reported that two are still at Darke WA
as of the 28th.

Eastern Phoebe: Steve Pelikan reported that two were in College Hill on
the 4th.

Northern Shrike: Two were still present along the causeway at Magee
Marsh on the 1st. Deb Neidert reported that one was still at Herrick Fen
as of the 1st. Bob Royse reported that one was still present near the
beach parking lot at Deer Creek SP as of the 5th.

Tree Swallow: Spring Valley WA produced a first of the season Tree
Swallow on the 27th. The Bobolink Hotline reported that some were just
west of the town of Trail (DeLorme 51D5) in Holmes County on the 1st.

Red-breasted Nuthatch: On the 27th Steve Jones reported that he
relocated three of the five that Rick Counts had found earlier at Chapel
Heights Memory Garden. Steve reported that the birds were still present
on the 4th. Karen Morgan reported that one was still frequenting her
feeder on the 28th. Marilyn Rohr reported that one has been visiting her
feeder in Chardon this week.

Ruby-crowned Kinglet: Troy Shively located one at Hoover Reservoir near
the Yacht Club entrance on the 28th.

Hermit Thrush: Tom Bartlett found four during the Kelley's Island
Monthly Census on the 26th.

Dickcissel: Andy Sewell reported that the Dickcissel continues at
Blendon Woods MP as of the 28th.

White-winged Crossbill: Eric Burkholder reported that he found 13 in
section 30 of Spring Grove Cemetery on the 27th. Bill Leaman reported
that he found 10-15 in section 49 of Spring Grove Cemetery on the 2nd.
Dan Kendrick reported that 40-50 were along Pond Lick Rd in Shawnee SF
on the 27th. Swan Creek Cemetery and Woodlawn Cemetery were still
producing crossbills this week. Mike Sandy reported that three were at
Olmsted Falls Middle School on the 28th. Bill Whan found 15-20 at
Greenlawn Cemetery on the 28th. Carol Bretz reported that five were at
her yard in New Waterford on the 28th and three on the 1st. Troy Shively
found four or five at Chapel Heights memory Garden on the 28th. Steve
Jones reported that six were there on the 4th. One was reported on
Riverview Rd between Station Rd and the area HQ at Jaite in the Cuyahoga
Valley NP on the 1st. Barb Hohman reported that over 30 were in her yard
in Devola on the 1st. John Pogacnik reported that a few visited his
Perry yard on the 1st. Nancy Anderson reported that five or six were at
Lakeview Cemetery on the 1st. Robert Jackson reported that a single
female was present in his Broadview Heights yard on the 2nd. Terry
Sponseller reported that a lone male was at his Canton yard on the 3rd.
Craig Holt reported that one was present at Pine Lake on the 4th. Six
remained at Kidron Park this week.

Common Redpoll: Debbie Knox reported that she had two at her feeder this
week in St. Marys. John Pogacnik reported that he had one in his Perry
yard on the 1st. Two were visiting a feeder in the town of Holland. The
Bobolink Hotline reported that redpolls were still present in its
reporting area this week.
