After getting word of hundreds of gulls at Hoover Reservoir, Ken and I stopped above the dam to take a look. We quickly found the Black-legged Kittiwake that was previously reported. It seems to be in adult nonbreeding plumage. It was sitting on the dock that is out in the water. We split up and I headed North. I stopped at the Walnut boat ramp and saw a large white gull. Tracked down my husband and scope and realized we had a Glaucous Gull. Probably a 2nd winter bird. I am sure there are other unusual gulls among the thousands there, I was just too cold to keep looking. Ken stayed behind, so there may be more to report later.
