I visited Killdeer Plains on Thursday March 5.  There was significant ice on
the ponds, although there were patches of open water.  It was particularly
winy with strong winds (> 10 knots) from the south.

Birds seen:

Black-capped (?) chickadee
Canada goose (by the thousands)
Snow goose (several dozen)
Red-winged blackbird
Northern Harrier
Red-tailed hawk
American kestrel
Wild turkey
Mallard
Blue-winged teal
Northern pintail
Canvassback
Wood duck
Tundra swan (several)
Herring gull
Killdeer
Mourning dove
American robin
Northern cardinal
Blue Jay
American crow
Song sparrow
