I roamed around several parks in these areas west of Columbus, dodging rain up until 11:00. There appeared to be a modest fallout of temperate migrants, but nothing truly unexpected. Notables included:
Diving Ducks - Darby Bend Lakes still held a few Lesser Scaup and a Bufflehead
Common Loon - 1 was swimming in one of the lakes at Darby Bend Lakes
Great Horned Owl - 1 was still perched in the woodlot at Hilliard Municipal Park, but the nest along Darby Creek at Darby Bend Lakes had no bird on it today.
Sapsuckers - surprisingly, none were in the riparain strip along Darby Creek, but 3 were in various isolated woodlands in Hilliard. Go figure.
Brown Thrashers - common, with singing birds at nearly every stop.
Golden-cr.Kinglet - not common, with only 3-4 for the entire morning.
Winter Wren - 1 was lurking in a brushpile at Hilliard Municipal Park
E.Towhees - continue to be common, with 1-2 birds at nearly every stop
Field Sparrows - small flocks at several locations
Fox Sparrows - 3 were along Clover-Goff creek in Spindler Park
E.Meadowlark - 4-5 were singing along Amity Rd, in the fields bordering and in Prairie Oaks MetroPark
