I spent bits and pieces of these two days roaming parks around this Columbus south suburb looking for OBBA records and early migrants. Lots of temperate migrants around, but not much for early neotropicals yet. Notables included:

Wood Ducks - lots of nest-prospecting pairs in sycamores along both Walnut Creek and Blacklick Creek

Blue-winged Teal - these latest of the migrant ducks have hit in a big way, with pairs in almost every sizeable puddle.

Sapsucksers - small numbers in most riparian areas. They were in upland areas last week, so there must be a shift in the sap flow now.

Hermit Thrushes - good numbers, with several at different sites

Gnatcatchers, Kinglets - Lots of both kinglets and gnatcatchers, as these classic temperate migrants swarm through the area

Brown Thrashers - continue to be noticeable around most field edges; they're even more common than Mockingbirds right now.

Sparrows - many Field and Chipping sparrows have settled onto territories, while quite a few migrant White -throats are in scubby areas. Singing Fox sparrows have been at many locations, along with 1-2 Swamp Sparrows.
