Hobart Urban Nature Preserve is part of the Miami County Park District and
is a real gem in the middle of Troy. It's very good for grassland birds
and in late May, 2008, was filled with dickcissels and grasshopper sparrows.

From 9:30 - 10:45 a.m. this morning we had some great sightings:

Pied-billed grebe
Ring-necked ducks - 24
Blue-winged teals - 5
Mallards - 2
Canada goose
Rough-winged, tree, & barn swallows
Savannah, song, field, tree, chipping, and house sparrows
Red-winged blackbirds
American robins
American crows
Northern flicker
Bluejay
Northern cardinal
European starlings
Turkey vulture
American kestrel
Common grackle
Mourning dove

As we entered the park, a beautiful red fox crossed in front of us. All
in all a great birding morning at 33 degrees.

Englewood North Park - 11:15 a.m. - The swallows are back!

Bank, tree, barn, & rough-winged swallows
Bald eagle - Adult being helped to vacate the premises by a red-tailed
hawk
    Pied-billed grebes - 2
    Gadwall - 1
    American coots - 6
    Northern shovelers - 5
    Killdeer
    Mallard
    Ring-billed gulls
    Canada geese
    Red-winged blackbirds
    Song sparrow
