This afternoon we had a osprey resting in a large oak in our backyard.? It had a fish about 12-inches long which I assume it took from a pond less than 50-yards from the tree.? It sat on a well exposed limb for 10-15 minutes finishing its meal before taking off due to the harrassing from some smaller birds.? While we have seen a large variety of birds in this area (we are about 3 miles north of the Ohio River and live on a golf course), this was a first.? We assume it was just passing through.
