I had to go to Portage Co. today.  On the way back home I squeezed in a little birding.  Wingfoot L. area has some shorebird habitat like usual, but the only birds of interest there were blue-winged teal and n. shoveler.  Berlin Res. had 30 d-c cormorants, osprey, 3 Wilson's snipe, n. rough-winged swallow, and 5 cliff swallows.  I tracked down a singing purple finch in my Poland Twp. (Mahoning Co.) yard this morning--it turned out to be an imm. male.  Later, Craig
