Three of us from the Columbus area successfully chased Golden-crowned
sparrows and Smith's longspurs today.

The sparrow was in the yard of a home near Findlay as previously reported.
The homeowners were most gracious and were hosting quite a parade of
birders, with more arriving as we left. They have requested that visits end
at 4:00 pm today; please respect their wishes and, with luck, they may
invite birders to their property again.

The longspurs were found in the location previously reported on Manley Road
near Rockford, OH. We saw at least three individuals: one, transitioning
into breeding plumage, strolled around and over the corn stubble less than
20 feet from us for several minutes. The others were in small flocks, along
with some horned larks, and flew across the road from the stubble to a new
wheat field, then back again later.
