The radar picture now (a little before 11 p.m. on Thursday night, April 23)
suggests that there's a major movement of birds going on tonight in western
Ohio as well as in adjacent regions of Michigan, Indiana, and Kentucky (and
in many states to the south and southwest of us), so tomorrow morning there
should be evident turnover in the birdlife present at local migrant traps,
and a lot of new arrivals. We've been predicting for several days that
tomorrow (Friday April 24) would be a big day on the Lake Erie shoreline in
northwest Ohio -- see the posts linked from
http://www.bsbo.org/birding/ -- and it looks as if the weather forecasts
have held steady enough that the migration will arrive as predicted. But
based on the current forecasts, it appears that Saturday and Sunday, April
25 and 26, should be excellent days for migrants here as well. The number
of warbler species along the Magee Marsh boardwalk, stuck at three or four
recently, should go up to over a dozen this weekend.
