IT has been a very windy day here along the SCioto River in Columbus. At first glance there didn't appear to be much around this morning. By mid-day I managed to make my way down to the riverbed here where it was sheltered and found many migrants (mostly yellow-rumpeds at this point) feeding down low in the floodplain along the Scioto where there is a lot of insect activity. Birds here at mid day included :

several Wartbling Vireos (probably a mix of newly arriving residents and migrants)
2 Red-eyed Vireos
2 House Wrens
loads of B-g Gnatcatchers
1 Hermit Thrush
1 Swainson's Thrush
3 Nashvilles
3 TN Warblers
1 N Parula
2 Yellows
1 Ch-sided
2 B-t Greens
75-100 Y Rumps
several Sycamores
7 Palms
2 Scarlet Tanagers

even the R-e vireos and tanagers were feeding down low..

Bob Royse, Columbus
