New birds for the season were showing up with the warm weather yesterday
(Saturday, April 25th) here on South Bass Island. I heard a mockingbird
early in the morning at the Lake Erie Islands Nature and Wildlife Center and
a Swainson's thrush in the evening. Palm warblers were seen in several
locations at Scheeff East Point Nature Preserve.
White-throated sparrows and ruby crowned kinglets were still around in
abundance.
My neighbor Susan Amrine, had a rose-breasted grosbeak in her yard the day
before.
This morning as I am typing this e-mail, a Swainson's thrush is just outside
the window-got to get outside!
